“How To Develope Repeat Customers for Small Business “

by Fred Harteis

At Harteis International, we are very proud to serve. We have customers that we have had for 30 plus years. We believe it is essential to build relationships with our customers, and focus on their best interest. If people realize you have their needs at heart and have a passion to help them you are on the right track. Service with a smile and a heart go a long way in creating repeat business.  Loyal customers will provide most of your revenue.  Twenty percent of your customers will represent 80 percent of your sales each year.

Small Business Customer Loyalty Tips: Team Up To Add Customer Value

1. Open dialogue with customers helps you help them. Your ears are the way to their heart.  Teach your staff to “team up” to add value to your customers experience.

2. Develop a dedication to new and innovative ideas to fill the customer needs today and tomorrow.

3. Create and add value. Value cannot be understated, people must understand you do provide great value for them or you must create value.

4. Never do we allow an excuse to replace dedicated service or quality.

Early in our business development we knew at BizNet Productions that fast service would be essential.

5. Be responsive. If the customer orders today, it will be shipped today or next day with out delay. That is the service that is expected, never let the customer down.

Best team or company philosophy is we get to where we want to go by helping the customers get to where what they want – first.  We suggest you do the same.

The fifth Leadership Principle from the book "Proverbs of Leadership" is Perseverance.

Orrin Woodward always teaches to stay the course.  He says " I will until."  Most people would succeed if they just stay focused long enough and persevere through the ups and downs of life, and just finish what they start!

The first quality that is needed is audacity.”
Winston Churchill

Be audacious enough to believe you can achieve whatever you set your heart upon.  Then make the right decisions for success.  We have an incredible path paved before us by Orrin Woodward and the other Team leaders.  If we begin with 3 primary areas to focus and decide to pursue we will achieve success to a level most people will never see in their lifetime.

1.  Seek Continual Growth.

Happiness can be found in growth.  It is out of growth that we live and through growth that we give.  We must ask ourselves what it is that we are learning right now… today.  As Orrin would ask, what is stretching me out of my comfort zone?

2.  Become a Servant Leader.

To lead is to be first, out front.  To serve is to focus on the needs of others before ourselves.  Focus on the needs of others before your own reward.  Do not wait until you get something out of a relationship before you give to it.  It will not come until you first nourish.  Deny yourself the “what’s in it for me” mentality that permeates our culture with a rotting stench.  Give first and the reward will follow. "I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."  Jeremiah 17:10

3.  Attitude!  Attitude!  Attitude!

Our success is not determined by what life brings us but by how we respond to it.  We must remember that our attitude is always a choice and it’s our choice to make… no one makes it for us.

With the Team system that Orrin Woodward has created, developed, expanded and refined, any person can pursue greatness with the odds of achieving it stacked in their favor.  As we reflect upon the choices we’ve made thus far… and as we look to make them better in the future with the guidance of those that have gone before… let us never forget that it is the next one that holds the power of the present.

Decide!  And have the audacity to begin it.

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.”

Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln describes here the true test of a man’s character and integrity.  Matthew Henry says:  It is not fit the public trusts should be lodged in the hands of any till they are first proved and found fit for the business they are to be entrusted with.”

The Team and Orrin Woodward have taught that integrity is 2 things:

·          Morality-  Not doing what is wrong, and

·          Character-  Doing that which is right… no matter what!

Orrin not only talks the talk but more importantly, he walks the walk.  Orrin leads by example and has created a business that rewards performance with results which can be achieved only through serving others with the integrity necessary to handle wealth, power, and influence.  It is incredible that a business such as the Team and a businessman such as Orrin Woodward emphasize and teach true wealth with a business model that produces it like none other.  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Matthew 16:26

Giving Up Too Soon

by: Author Unknown, Source Unknown

A man meets a guru in the road. The man asks the guru, "Which way is success?"

The berobed, bearded sage speaks not but points to a place off in the distance.

The man, thrilled by the prospect of quick and easy success, rushes off in the appropriate direction. Suddenly, there comes a loud "Splat!!!"

Eventually, the man limps back, tattered and stunned, assuming he must have misinterpreted the message. He repeats his question to the guru, who again points silently in the same direction.

The man obediently walks off once more. This time the splat is deafening, and when the man crawls back, he is bloody, broken, tattered, and irate. "I asked you which way is success," he screams at the guru. "I followed the direction you indicated. And all I got was splatted! No more of this pointing! Talk!"

Only then does the guru speak, and what he says is this: "Success is that way. Just a little after the splat."

We must never forget that anything worth having, is worth working for.  Orrin Woodward and the Team have demonstrated over and over that success comes to those who stick.  Orrin has said that success is as simple as falling down 99 times as long as you get up 100.  Are you willing to fall down 99 times and get up the 100th time to success?  Operating under the principles and business model of the Team make getting up easier and the falling down doesn’t hurt as much.  Learn from the fall and each time we’re closer to success.  Commitment, perseverance, determination… these are not optional ingredients in the formula for success.  William Feather said "Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go."

So hang on!  And achieve the success you’ve dreamed of.

Orrin Woodward definitely has the fourth principle from the book "The Proverbs of Leadership" which is VISION!

Focus on the dream not the distractions.

Orrin always give the vision of where the Team is going and where e- commerce is going.  When you know where youu are going you no longer wandering through life just to exist.  It will give you a purpose in life.  There will always be those who want to distract you and criticize you, but if you have a true dream and a purpose, nothing will be able to stop you.

Orrin Woodward always says, "If the dream is big enough, the facts don't count."

"People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Abraham Lincoln

For thousands of years, men and women have searched for the secret that would enable them to live a more happy and successful life.  To this day, many people continue to look for this hidden secret, seldom ever finding its hiding place.  Most of us never realize that it lies deep within each of us.  As Orrin Woodward and the Team have proved and provided for others, lasting happiness comes from putting your heart into that which you enjoy doing and working at it with joy and enthusiasm.  Happiness grows out of harmonious relationships with others based on attitudes of good will, tolerance, understanding, and love.  Happiness is basically determined by the attitude you hold toward yourself and those around you.  Happiness depends upon a mind full of rich thoughts and a heart full of rich emotions.  As Orrin Woodward has taught, “The city of happiness can be found in the state of mind.”  A cheerful heart is one which grows larger by helping others.  “Help thy brother’s boat across, and lo! Thine own has reached the shore.”  Thanks Orrin for putting together the Team system by which each of us can help thy brother’s boat across and achieve true happiness in the process.

History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.”

Winston Churchill

Orrin Woodward and the Team have put together an opportunity for each of us to do exactly that… write our own history.  The Team system put together by Orrin Woodward gives each individual who utilizes it the chance to literally become whomever they choose through personal growth.  How does your story read?  Are you writing it or are you letting someone else?

The following is taken from Conversations With Millionaires written by Mike Litman and Jason Oman:

I have a question here from a gentleman.  His name is Matt, in Alabama.  He asks, “Michael Gerber, what is the most important step an entrepreneur can take to begin setting up the system in his or her business?”

The absolute most important thing you can do, Matt, is read The E-Myth.  Now, if you haven’t done that, you have to do that.  That’s the first thing.

The second thing you do once you have read The E-Myth is to ask yourself the questions, “what do I want from my life?”  Forget about your business, Matt. Forget about your business.  It’s a complete unadulterated waste of time. Your life is your business and so you have to ask yourself, “what do I want?”  What I mean by that is, what is your primary aim?  Do you remember earlier, we talked about creating a story?  Telling the story.  Our life is a story.  The problem is we’re not writing our story.  So this is the very first thing we tell our clients to do.  Mike, the first thing you do when we get done tonight you go home and you imagine your C.O.D. Imagine your crap out date.  Imagine you’re at your own funeral and suddenly you’re speaking. You’re at your own funeral. You’re speaking to everybody at the funeral and you say, “listen, I have to tell you a story. Nobody else could tell you this story like I can. Nobody knows me like I do.” You’re dead, Mike, you understand? You made the recording before C.O.D., before you died. What story would you tell them?

Okay, so today is the first day of the rest of your life.  What a cliché.  What a horrible cliché.  But the fact of the matter is, it is!

Imagine going home tonight and writing this script for the tape you’re going to play at your own funeral and saying, “Hi. I want to tell you the story of a guy. His name is Mike. He was, you know, however old when he saw the light.  And that day he decided he was going to create by intention, absolute intention, the rest of his life. This is the story.”

Telling it, telling it, telling it, and then living it, Mike. But nobody does that. Everybody is out there having accidents.

There is no coincidence… there’s only providence.  Stop letting accidents direct your life and start writing a story worth reading.  The story you want to tell!

It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself and claims kindred to the great God who made him.”

Abraham Lincoln

According to Psychology Today, by the time a child reaches the age of 18, the concept of "No, you can't!" has been reinforced 187,000 times, whereas the concept of "Yes, you can!" has been reinforced only about 25 - 30 times.

With this in mind, is it any wonder why so many people give up on their dreams and even themselves?  With no hope, what’s the point?  Today's society 'programs' us this way. We simply do not "believe" we can win.

That is why Orrin Woodward and the Teamare so appreciated:  Orrin has created an environment that breaks the mold of negative reinforcement into positive encouragement restoring hope back into people’s lives wherein they become empowered to excel and achieve much greater things than settling for what society says they must.  Orrin Woodward, through the Team system, has leveled the playing field for creating wealth, not just money, but lifestyle.  Anything anyone wants to achieve… whether it’s just being part of a winning Team, becoming a hero to one’s family and kids, or building a business with the potential to change the world economy or to influence culture, there’s something for everyone.  Perhaps it’s simply peace, as Abraham Lincoln suggests above, in knowing a man is worthy in the eyes of his creator.  “This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence.” 1 John 3:19

There is great peace in the presence of God.  May everyone be blessed with such peace.

I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said.”

-Alan Greenspan

This has to be one of my all time favorites.  Humor from an individual who is arguably the most powerful man in the world because he holds what is probably the most powerful position in the world.  After reviewing the Greenspan Series, perhaps we can take comfort in knowing that the man who holds that spot thinks the way he does.

Orrin Woodward and the Team have shown that the simplest systems are the most effective & most productive.  Orrin has always said, “Major on the majors.”  The majors are always fundamental principles that produce results every time.  Clear communication is a big one.  A clear vision for the overall Team that gives direction and purpose for each team within it will provide clear direction for goals of the players on the Team.  Dale Carnegie has written Ten Common Sense Rules for Human Relations:

1         Speak to people.  There’s nothing as nice as a cheerful greeting.

2         Smile at people.  It takes 112 muscles to frown and only 13 to smile.

3         Call people by their name.  The sweetest music to the ears is ones own name.

4         Be friendly and helpful.  Radiate friendship and it will be returned tenfold.

5         Be cordial.  Speak and act as if everything you did were a pleasure.

6         Be genuinely interested in people.

7         Be generous with praise, cautious with criticism.

8         Be considerate with the feelings of others; it will be appreciated.

9         Be thoughtful of others opinions.  There are three sides to every controversy- yours, the others- and the right one.

10     Be alert to give service.  What counts a great deal in life is what we do for others.

Sound advice from another extremely influential, productive, successful individual who knew how to communicate.

The entries of this journalistic blog are intended to be particularly clear-  understanding is the point.

Thanks to Orrin, success on the Team can be simple as well.

"Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities... because it is the quality which guarantees all others."

Winston Churchill

We should all realize how fortunate we are to have people like Orrin Woodward and the Team out there proving that courage and heroes still exist today.  That people are still willing to step outside of their comfort zones to help someone else realize they can do it.  They can be better, have more, be who they wanted to be but gave up on so long ago.  Orrin and the Team have shown that anyone with the courage to try will be supported, nurtured, encouraged, defended, and recognized for their efforts.  We just have to dig up the courage to begin.

Courage To Risk

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.

To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.

To reach out for another is to risk involvement.

To expose feelings is to risk exposing our true self.

To place your ideas & your dreams before the crowd is to risk loss.

To love is to risk not being loved in return.

To live is to risk dying.

To hope is to risk despair.

To try at all is to risk failure.

But risk we must, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.  The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing.

This saying reminds of a quote Orrin Woodward is fond of saying, “To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.”  Elbert Hubbard, American editor, publisher and writer.  (1856-1915).  Boy, isn’t that the truth.  Stick your head out above the crowd, attempt to leave the land of Ordinary, pursue better, disrupt the status quo (latin for ‘the mess we’re in’),  and look out  All the naysayers, cursers, critics, condemners, complainers, and bloggers come out of the woodwork displaying a major common characteristic… an incredible reliance and foundation upon mediocrity.  What have they accomplished in their lives?  What have they even tried to accomplish?  Even if they did try… to give up so easily, expect others to do the same, and drag everyone else down with them is pitiful and pathetic at the same time.  Take that negative energy and apply it positively in pursuit of something that makes a difference and Wa-La!  Success in the making.  Now that’s a story worth telling!  So, get out there and be a bulldog, stick your head out and risk it all.  Start writing a story worth telling!

I don't think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday. “

Abraham Lincoln

The Team has taught that the biggest room in the world is the room of self-improvement.  Abraham Lincoln has also said, “I will study and prepare myself and someday my chance will come.”

Orrin Woodward has taught that we should constantly be seeking to improve ourselves.  We should continuously be sharpening our axe.  It means taking the time for self-examination in all areas of our life.  When we identify areas with room for improvement and development, we can then seek to acquire and develop qualities that will distinguish greatness of mind, spirit, and character.  Socrates said that the unexamined life is not worth living.  He advised us to, “Know thyself.”

In developing the Team system, Orrin created a process through which we can achieve continual growth and personal improvement.  Orrin’s system creates a success library of some of the world’s greatest thinkers and leaders that motivate, educate, and inspire toward continual growth for greatness.  The Team system also incorporates the success principles of others who have achieved significant success by listening to personal growth tapes taking advantage of the best teacher… the experiences of others in the pursuit of high achievement.  Orrin Woodward has also incorporated the most powerful force on earth… the power of association with likeminded thinkers seeking to pursue better teaching us fundamentals of success and winning.

Nourishing your mind is the best investment you can make and no one can take it away from you.  As author Burke Hedges says in his best selling book, You, Inc., it will be worth all the time, money, and energy you may spend because your mind is your biggest asset and any expense on it is an investment.

To achieve success in your professional as well as your personal life, take time out each and every day to sharpen your axe.
